The common causes of acne include excess sebum production, acne-causing bacteria, inflammation, hormonal changes (basically androgen imbalance), steroidal medications or lithium intake, and a diet rich in carbohydrates.

Stress does not cause acne, but it can worsen the already present acne.

Treatment of Acne:

You can improve mild acne by the administration of over the counter medicines. The most common drugs present in the medication include resorcinol, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, sulfur, and Retin-A. These chemicals work by breaking down blackheads and whiteheads. They also reduce inflammation and strengthens the cells around hair follicles.
